Cleopatra Beach is one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Turkey.
It is located on the western side of the Alanya peninsula, not far from the Damlatas Cave.
On the landward side, it is bordered by hotel complexes, restaurants, cafes and Ataturk Park and Boulevard.
The beach in the heart of Alanya is famous for its crystal-clear water and an incident with the Egyptian pharaoh Cleopatra.

7 tips for the most beautiful beach in Alanya
Cleopatra Beach owes its name to an event from ancient times. The castle and city of Alanya were given to Cleopatra by Roman general Marc Antonius after the death of Julius Caesar.
According to legend, she came to the bay to swim while traveling through the Mediterranean Sea. She is said to have particularly liked the fine coral sand of the beach.
Allegedly, she even brought her own desert sand from Egypt. But that belongs more to the realm of fairy tales.
Two thousand years later, the kilometer-long Cleopatra Beach attracts tourists from all over the world. The sandy beach is a perfect place to practice various water sports such as surfing, jet skiing, para-sailing and kite surfing.
The advantages of the beach also include the restaurants and cafes that are located along the beach promenade. They often offer free Wi-Fi.
Children can be entertained in the adjacent Ataturk Park, which has a mini golf course. At the western end of the beach there is a small amusement park, called Luna park.
Please be careful when you visit Cleopatra Beach with small children. The shoreline along the beach drops into the water relatively suddenly. After a few meters, the depth is no longer safe for children. The waves are also a little higher along Cleopatra Beach. As an adult, this may not bother you, but with small children it should be a reason for concern.
1. Good hotels on Cleopatra Beach
I have put together a collection of the most recommendable hotels that are right on Cleopatra Beach. Basically, there are, of course, dozens of hotels in all parts of Alanya.
I have only selected accommodations with good guest reviews and those which have the shortest walking distance to the beach (max. 5 minutes).
I prefer hotels, guest houses and apartments that are directly on the beach promenade.
Hotels:
Asia Beach Resort & Spa: the only 5-star hotel in the centre of Alanya is only separated from Cleopatra Beach by the coastal boulevard.
Hotel Riviera: a good 4-star hotel in the middle of Cleopatra Beach with good reviews. It is only separated from the beach by Ataturk Park.
Grand Okan: the 4-star hotel is only separated from Cleopatra Beach by Ataturk Park. It is a good place for a vacation with the whole family.
Alaiye Kleopatra Hotel: the 4-star hotel is only separated from Cleopatra Beach by the coastal boulevard. The Alaiye Kleopatra is like all other hotels in an ideal location between the beach and all other interesting places in Alanya.
Pensions / Bed & Breakfast and Apartments:
Kleopatra Suit – Families & Couples: The Suits is one of the best places to stay in all of Alanya. You walk only 200 meters to the sea and, in the best city central location, and, best of all, you can get to the harbour district and Burgberg within a few minutes.
Ada Apart Hotel – Families & Couples: The Ada is a well-rated guest house, 250 meters from the western section of the beach. Apartments are also available.
Miray Hotel – Couples, Certificate of Excellence: The Miray is a recommendation for those who do not want to spend an all-inclusive pool holiday in Turkey. There are many shops and restaurants in the area. Cleopatra Beach is 100 meters away.
Hatipoglu Beach Hotel – Families & Couples: The guesthouse is located on the middle section of the beach. The price-performance ratio in the 3-star accommodation is very good compared to the location and the services.
Tuna Apartments – Families & Couples: For self-caterers, Tuna is an excellent place to spend a holiday in Alanya. Shops, bars and restaurants are in the immediate vicinity. The beach can be reached in a few minutes.
2. Sun beds, umbrellas and dealers
Admission to Cleopatra Beach is free, except for the rental of beach chairs and umbrellas, which you must pay a fee.
Two sun loungers and a parasol currently cost € 7.50 for one day. If you are already staying at a hotel on Cleopatra Beach, you can pay the amount directly to the hotel. This makes the rental fee slightly cheaper.
There are free showers on the beach, and changing rooms are also available.
The traders are not intrusive compared to other countries and beaches. No loud music is played on most sections of the beach.
A couple of snack bars are distributed over the beach. They provide you with small meals and drinks at moderate prices. Of course you can just walk 100 meters further to the beach promenade. There you will find lots of restaurants, shops and cafes.
3. Cleanliness, water and beach
Cleopatra carries the “Blue Flag” eco-label, which is awarded every year in the field of sustainable tourism to coasts, inland waters and marinas that have complied with ecological standards in the areas of environmental management, service quality and water quality in the pre-season. There are no jellyfish or water pollution in the bay.
The entire beach section is basically clean and it is cleaned regularly. Nevertheless, there are always cigarette stubs and other little things to be found in the sand. That is simply because it is used regularly by thousands of vacationers. It would be nice if everyone made their own contribution to cleanliness and disposed of the garbage properly.
4. The water temperature on the beach and the weather
On Cleopatra Beach, water temperatures vary, depending on the season. The main bathing season begins in June and lasts until September. The water temperatures are between 25 and 28 ° during these months. The highest temperatures are reached in August. Even during the off-season, Cleopatra Beach offers pleasant bathing temperatures. From the middle of April, the sea water off the Turkish Riviera warms up to over 21-22 °. Water temperatures of around 24 ° can be expected until October.
In the summer months, less than one rainy day per month can be expected. The temperatures are on average over 30 °. Some hot days reach temperatures up to 40 °.

5. Water sports and other activities
The bay in which Cleopatra Beach is located is perfect for running and swimming. Many other sports and water sports are also offered, some of which are subject to a charge.
These include parasailing, surfing, kite surfing, jet skiing, banana boating, and beach volleyball. Sailboats can also be borrowed from the nearby Alanya marina. Various diving stations also have their offerings along Cleopatra Beach.
When you go swimming with diving goggles, you can marvel at the fish and the natural beauty underwater. If you are looking for a longer swim, you can swim from the beach to Damlats Cave. This is located a little above sea level under the Alanya peninsula.
6. Away from the beach
A day at the beach can be perfectly combined with a visit to the castle hill, the Damlatas cave or a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Alanya. All of the sights listed in Alanya are at the eastern end of Cleopatra Beach. On a hot day, the Damlatas stalactite cave with its year-round constant temperature of 23 ° is an ideal place to cool off.
t is always advisable to have the amounts ready in the local currency. The Alanya Museum is also a popular place to find shelter from the sun or a little change from the beach at lunchtime.
If you are looking for an adventure, then walk to the western end of Cleopatra Beach. There are some paragliding schools that offer tandem jumps from the Taurus Mountains back to Cleopatra Beach practically every hour on the hour.
A tandem jump from the Taurus Mountains is something very special, as the mountains are almost 2,000m high and the flight back to Cleopatra Beach takes a long time.
The castle hill is a particularly popular destination in the late afternoon. The winter palace of the Seljuk Sultan was once located on this very same hill. In the 2nd century BC, the fortress was a base for Sicilian pirates. For this reason, the excursion boats in the port of Alanya have the appearance of a pirate town. The top of the castle hill can be reached either on foot from Cleopatra Beach or by bus.
At the end of a day on Cleopatra Beach, you will be rewarded once more by the setting sun with a uniquely beautiful view of Alanya’s castle hill. The bars along the beach promenade invite you to linger a little longer. Preparations for the wild nightlife in Alanya are already beginning in the harbour district on the eastern side of the peninsula.
7. Other beautiful beaches in Alanya
Beach on the harbour walls: an insider tip that locals and emigrants like to visit in Alanya is the beach below the harbour walls by the Red Tower.
Orange or Keykubat Beach: is the long sandy beach in the east of Alanya. There are many beach bars and restaurants on the beach.
Ulas Beach: a small sandy beach below the cliffs between Alanya and Konakli. Many excursion boats stop at the hidden beach and can be reached by bus from the centre of Alanya.
Gazipasa: the coast of Alanya’s neighbouring town to the east is an absolute insider tip. The kilometer-long beach is almost deserted and the water is crystal clear.
Antiochia ad Cragnum: probably the most beautiful bathing bay is hidden in the ancient ruins of Antiochia ad Cragnum near Gazipasa. The bay is separated from the sea by a natural rock gate.
